About This Course

This course provides a thorough introduction to essential mathematical concepts and skills, designed to help students build a solid foundation in mathematics. It covers a wide range of topics, beginning with sets and basic notations, where students learn what sets are and how to represent them using different notations. Various methods to describe sets, such as listing elements or using rules, are explored, along with understanding how sets can relate to each other through concepts like subsets, unions, and intersections. Students will perform basic operations with sets, get to know different types of numbers (such as whole numbers, integers, and rational numbers), and delve into prime factorization and the concepts of the greatest common factor (GCF) and least common multiple (LCM). The course also covers working with signed numbers, studying the properties of real numbers, and learning how to express rational numbers as decimals and fractions. Mastery of the laws of exponents, understanding polynomials, and learning operations on polynomials, including special products and methods of factoring, are key components. Students will simplify and perform operations with rational expressions, handle complex fractions, and work with rational exponents and radicals, including performing arithmetic operations with radical expressions. Solving equations involving one variable (linear, quadratic, rational, and radical) and equations in two variables are also integral parts of the curriculum. This course combines theoretical understanding with practical problem-solving, preparing students for further studies in mathematics and related disciplines.
